IMPHAL: The chief secretary held a meeting with the Director General of Police and administrative secretaries to review the implementation of measures to check the spread of Covid-19 on Monday noon.
Chief Secretary Suresh Babu started the discussion with the situation which had developed in Jiribam in the last few days and requested private secretary health to brief the members. After detailed deliberations on all issues the meeting arrived at a few concrete decisions.
Teams with both health care professionals and Covid-19 related medical supplies are to be dispatched to Jiribam immediately. The team of doctors may go by helicopters and transport department have been instructed to examine the arrangement if it could be a regular one instead of a chartered one.
Other support staff and supplies may be sent by road. The teams should immediately increase surveillance and contact tracing of all those who have been tested positive. Sample collection and testing in Jiribam will be widened to include all those who have been involved in receiving and sending off of train passengers. According to the official instruction, it should include civil and police personnel of district administration, their family members if staying in Jiribam, local volunteers, members of the transport councils involved in bus arrangements etc.
The meeting noted that since the cultivation season has started DC/JBM should facilitate unloading of fertilisers from railway racks and loading them to trucks by providing separate camps for the labourers involved.
Health Dept has been asked for designating a separate area for sample collection and testing including waiting area at JNIMS for the officers who have come on official visit or personnel of organisations who have come on the request of government dept: for specific projects/works. Concerned Dept will liaise with the Health Dept and provide advance information and also arrange to ferry them to JNIMS for testing.
Home department will issue order for Withdrawal of the Transport dept team and all the civil officials assisting them at ISBT. The arrangement will now be looked after by the police team of Imphal West. Home Department will issue an order directing all DCs to prepare and maintain a proper stock register of all the items procured for the quarantine centers. They will also take over all these items once a QC is closed and store them property for use in future.
Home Department will issue an order invoking the provision of the NDM Act 2005 to prohibit any strike cease work by the employees.
