Recovery rate of COVID-19 patients rise to 48%; 616 discharged out of 1279

IMPHAL: Even as there seems to be no respite in the increase of COVID-19 cases with 19 more fresh cases detected in the last 24 hours taking the state’s total count 1279, the relief comes in the fact that 616 patients have recovered and have been discharged taking the recovery rate to 48 percent.

According to a statement issued by Additional Director Health Department and COVID-19 Common Control Room Spokesperson Dr Khoirom Shasheekumar Mangang late Thursday evening,19 persons were found positive for the Virus when their samples were tested at RIMS and JNIMS lab. 8 samples were tested positive for COVID-19 when 825 samples were tested at JNIMs while 11 samples tested positive out of the 593 samples tested at JNIMS.

Of the 19 cases, 10 cases belong to Churachandpur, two each from Kakching, Kamjong and Ukhrul, one each from Imphal West and Thoubal.

The Health department did not reveal the travel history and address of the individuals. All the patients have been shifted to COVID care centres. Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement.

However, while 19 tested positive, 37 persons were discharged from the Hospitals on Thursday after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. 19 patients were discharged from Covid Care centre, Meitram, 17 from CCC Kakching, one from RIMS.

With this, State’s total active COVID-19 cases stands at 663. Till date, altogether 616 patients have been recovered and discharged, recording a recovery rate of 48.16 percent.

The department maintains complete transparency on important facts related to COVID-19 pandemic and there is no concealment of or intention to conceal facts from the people or media, the Health department said in the release.

All the 662 active COVID-19 cases are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre, RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO school, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort, Tamenglong higher Secondary school, CCC/IO Ward Churachandpur, CCC, Senapati, District Hospital Ukhrul, District Hospital Thoubal, IGTU Makhan, CCC Kakching, and District QCs respectively.

 Altogether 53,030 samples have been tested in the state so far, of which 1234 tested positive, said a report of IDSP Manipur.
