CM Biren tests negative
IMPHAL: Chief Minister N Biren, who attended a function at City Convention Centre along with the second minister infected with Covid-19 Th Bishwajit, has tested negative for the same disease.
Notably, Chief Minister N Biren on September 11 attended the Manipur Startup conclave at City Convention Centre. During the event the Chief Minister shared the dais with Works Minister Th Bishwajit, who was detected positive for COVID-19. Later, the chief minister and some other staff at CM secretariat underwent testing at JNIMS. Result of the samples was received yesterday with CM testing negative. Results of the other staff have also tested negative, sources said.
Even as 96 fresh COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 7971, the state saw an improved recovery rate by 79.53 percent with altogether 6340 patients having recovered so far.
According to a daily bulletin updated by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, the 96 positive cases including 78 civilians and 18 personnel of CAPF were detected at RIMS RTPCR- 5, JNIMS RTPCR-23, Chandel district – 4, Ukhrul district -2, Imphal East district – 6, Little Clinic -1, Imphal West -7, Noney -3, Raj Medicity-4, Thoubal-14, Churachandpur -8, Kangpokpi -1, Bishnupur-1, Jiribam -5, Babina Dianostic -8, Tamenglong -2, Samaritan-2.
Of the 78 civilians who tested positive, 66 individuals are locally transmitted with no significant travel history. They belong to Imphal West district -16, Imphal east-17, Thoubal-20, Churachandpur-10, Kangpokpi-1, Bishnupur-1, Noney-3, Chandel-5, Ukhrul district-2, Jiribam district-1 and Tamenglong-2.
All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.
There is no report of new Covid-19 related death case in the state, added the Health department.
In the last 24 hours, 149 persons were recovered and discharged, thus recovery rate pegging at 79.53 percent on Monday.
They were discharged from CAPF -16, RIMS-6, JNIMS-3, CCC UNACCO-49, CCC Lamding Thoubal-7, CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong -50 and CCC Thoubal-21 after they were found Covid free on RT PCR test.
Altogether, 6141 patients have recovered and the active Covid-19 cases stand at 1585 in the state. The figure includes 1283 civilians and 302 security personnel.
The Health department advised the individuals who were in contact with a positive person to isolate immediately and get themselves tested. It also asked the contact control room or CMO for further testing to break the chain collectively.
