IMPHAL: Raj Medicity has inaugurated a Dedicated Covid-19 Block in an area segregated from the main hospital building, inside the old parking area, to cater to the needs of the Covid-19 positive patients of the state. The Covid-19 Block will be providing a spacious block with adequate distances between the beds and crossed ventilated to dilute the viral load in order to reduce infection between patients and to the health workers.
The newly inaugurated Covid-19 Block of Raj Medicity Hospital will be starting with twenty one beds including four Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds with ventilators and three High Flow Nasal Canula (HFNC) and BiPAP while another fifty more beds will be added in the near future.
Raj Medicity Chairman and Managing Director Haobijam Rajen Singh expressed his concern over the risky situation of being engulfed by the outbreak of Covid-19 virus in the state. He said that in order to save the lives of the people from the present COVID-19 pandemic in the shortest possible time the hospital will be making greater contribution to the collective efforts of the state in fighting against Covid-19’’.
Haobijam Rajen highlighted some of the mandatory regulations to the gatherings of the inauguration program held at the main block, Conference Hall of the hospital on Saturday.
He enlightened that for Covid-19 Block the hospital aims in providing a homely atmosphere in the block with dedicated nurses and doctors in each shift with extra nurses for ventilator dependent patients.
Patients will be provided food by the hospital consisting of two meals, breakfast and evening snacks including fruits per day at a reasonable price. He said that no party of the patient will be allowed inside the Covid-19 Block but they will be allowed to observe the condition of the patient through the window pane. The hospital has already started seeing patients with no testing for Covid-19 in the open air OPD. And therefore, all Covid-19 positive patients who have conditions ranging from mild, moderate and severe cases will be admitted and also treated in accordance with the clinical Management Protocol provided by the government, he added.
Raj Medicity requested the people in the state to help the hospital in serving the Covid-19 and non-Covid-19 patients and be united behind the collective efforts in fighting back this global pandemic.
