IMPHAL: A selective team of Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) selective team has taken the initiative of distribution of essential material to HIV positive individuals and families staying in the rented houses who have been forced to struggle and affected the most for their survival in the midst of Covid19 lockdown in the state.
According to a press release issued by PPCM publicity subcommittee convener T ongbi Ibemcha the relief materials were distributed to the people living in rents at the surrounding area of Konung Mamang Checkon and Machengkhul Lamlongei under Heingang Assembly Constituency. These people are from different districts places and were unable to return to their native villages and towns due to restrictions from their concerned local authorities as an act of taking precaution against the spread of Coronavirus in their places. The total numbers of HIV positive individuals who were handed the relief materials are 17 at Konung Mamang Checkon and 15 at Lamlongei, she added.
The PPCM further appealed the state government and the concerned social welfare department to look into the matter seriously and also to implement the necessary assistance for unfortunate individuals and the families like them during this critical situation in order to reduce the emotional pain being faced by the parents. The committee further questioned as to how much the state government and the concerned social department has provided as assistance to these groups of people during this lockdown.
The PPCM convener added that their selfless service is also been extended to other poor individuals and families rented in other places too by distributing the daily essential items and also to the well-off families whom are struggling even with money in their pockets.
