TMB Report

IMPHAL: Chief Minister N Biren has said that portfolios will be allocated to the four NPP ministers after due consultation with the Central leaders, for which he would be leaving Imphal for the national capital shortly.

The Chief Minister stated this while talking to reporters on the sideline of inauguration of a public parking space for the residents of Thangal keithel at Naga Nullah, Imphal on Friday.

He further said that the political crisis within the Government has been solved after the 4 NPP MLAs led by National People’s Party (NPP) national president and Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma had submitted letter of support to the Governor. Having returned from Delhi on Thursday after meeting with BJP president JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah, Deputy CM Y Joykumar, Conrad Sangma and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma met the Chief Minister at CM Bungalow. They quoted the central leaders as saying that allocation of portfolios would be done in consultation with the State Chief Minister.

As there is a truce regarding change in portfolios among the Ministers in consultation with the central leaders, he would soon visit to the national capital to discuss the matter with the central leaders.

He said that it is natural for political crisis to arise within a Government. However, such recent political crisis has nothing to topple the Government, he added.

Regarding inauguration of the parking space, Chief Minister said that the parking space was inaugurated to ease the traffic congestion in the Thangal Keithel.

He said that the parking space can accommodate around 116 four wheeler vehicles and a total of 106 vehicles owners have been identified for the Thangal keithel area whose vehicles would be parked in the allotted space at Naga Nullah. He informed that those shopkeepers who reside in nearby places should be dropped and picked up by drivers or family members to their respective shops and no permanent parking will not be allowed in the Thangal and Paona keithel area.

The Chief Minister maintained that for the residents of Paona keithel, a temporary parking space will be allotted near the Johnstone School and it will be inaugurated soon. He also informed that a multi-storied parking space will be constructed under the Smart City Plan in the Imphal area. He appealed the vehicles owners of the Thangal Bazaar area to park their vehicles in the parking area as allotted by the MAHUD.

MLA of Yaiskul AC Th. Satyabrata, Commissioner (MAHUD) Nidhi Kesarwani, Director (MAHUD) Th. Harikumar Singh, Councilors of Imphal Municipal Corporation and others attended the function.
