IMPHAL: Lisam Premchand Singh, the then Officer-in-Charge of Nambol Police Station, who sustained serious head injury during a frightening mob in 2014, has passed away on Sunday after battling illness from the injury for about seven years.
Inspector Lisam Premchand, hailing from Patsoi, has been undergoing medical treatment for about seven years after the incident. He expired at Raj Medicity on Sunday. His body has been deposited to RIMS morgue for autopsy.
Notably, Inspector Lisam Premchand sustained serious head injury after he and his team was attacked by locals of Nambol Chingmang on September 30, 2014 while the OC-led police team was trying to raid a house in the locality, getting information that a large quantity of contraband ganja was being stored at the house. The mob also set ablaze a Gypsy car allotted to Nambol Police Station.
