Peoples’ Task Force pitches for stringent measures to curb down COVID-19 fatality

IMPHAL: A day-long meeting of the leaders of different Civil Society Organisations was held at Iboyaima Shumang Lila Shanglen, Palace Compound organized by the Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19 where a serious note was taken of the increasing COVID-19 fatality rate in the state and resolved to urge the state Government to take up stringent measures to curb it down.

Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19 convened the meeting of the CSOs and students’ bodies to make a concrete decision in view of the surging daily COVID-19 death cases in the state. Around 47 CSO leaders attended the meeting presided over by BK Moirangcha, Convener Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19.

The meeting adopted four resolutions. It reaffirmed to strengthen the public awareness programs and publicity campaigns being carried out by the Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19 with support of the people, apart from taking up stringent steps to ensure that the people follow SOP properly.

It was resolved that Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19 shall hold a series of meetings with the different local task force units and other COVID-19 related committees to chart out strategies to fight the virus.

The meeting decided to open more COVID task units in other localities with support of the people, Peoples’ Task Force for COVID-19 in collaboration with local task force and units to extend help when an individual is found positive in a locality, apart from strengthening testing, tracing and treatment activities in containment zones.

Taking into consideration the surging COVID-19 fatality and positivity rate in the state, the meeting decided to urge the authority to keep control on the situation.

It also sought a detailed white paper regarding the COVID-19 death cases.
