IMPHAL: The Pangal Delimitation Committee (PDC) on Friday has expressed its gratitude on behalf of the community to the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh for nomination of Abdul Nasir, MLA Lilong AC as associate member of the Delimitation Commission.
A press note from PDC signed by its convenor Advocate Md. Rabi Khan stated that on behalf of entire community and its fraternity bodies, “we want to extend a heart-felt thank you for your commitment. The Pangals in Manipur are historically a hybrid community even though there is overtime effort to make them a hyphenated community. Hybrids inherit both vigour and vulnerabilities of the parent communities.”
“However, the clique that wants to hyphenate the Pangals has long been pretending to represent the community at all platforms or political foras in a bipartisan and inclusive manner. What has been witnessed so far as the socio-economic condition and political power of the Pangal community is concerned, is that the representation may be anything, but not bipartisan and inclusive. Hence, it was our humble and sincere submission to the Government of Manipur that the present delimitation commission should essentially include minority (Pangal) representatives.
The release further stated that the positive exposure given by state government to the community will be treasured and cherished.
The entire society appreciated the commitment with which the Government considered in this Delimitation Commission. The Pangal society would like to thank you for your liberal consideration in this democratic procedure, the release stated congratulating the chief minister.
