Guwahati: Three dead bodies were recovered from Pandu ghat while one remains missing in the Brahmaputra mishap.
The incident occurred at Guwahati’s Pandughat on Sunday morning after four friends were returning from their tuition classes. The students went swimming in the river and have drowned in the process.
Four teams of the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force fished out three bodies from a depth of 40ft of the river Brahmaputra.
The deceased were identified as Abhinash Das, Jeet Das, and Doyal Seikh. The rescue teams were searching for the fourth student, Deep Sarkar, feared to have been washed away.
A video posted by one of the boys on his social media account showed the other three diving into the river having their ‘fun time’.
Mobile phones, school bags, and pairs of shoes of the missing children were recovered on Sunday near Pandu ghat.
