Imphal: As a part of security measures, State Police continued to crack down curfew and lock down violators, who are not wearing face mask in public and not maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State.
During the ongoing drive carried out by State Police between April 25 to May 3, 2020, a grand fine of Rs. 23,04,690 was collected from 24436 curfew and lockdown violators along with detention of 17,351 vehicles.
Between the mentioned dates, State Police also registered 20 cases under Disaster Management Act, 2005 and 1 person was arrested for uploading communally inciting messages in social media.
The detained violators, vehicles and fines were collected from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Tamenglong, Noney, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tengnoupal, Senapati, Kangpokpi and Jiribam District Police Station during the police drive carried out between the mention dates.
Meanwhile, ADGP (LO) L. Kailun in a press note stated that a fine of Rs. 97,970 was collected from 1007 curfew and lockdown violators along with 735 vehicles during a drive conducted on Sunday.
ADGP (LO) in the press note has also warned those who violate the curfew and lockdown will be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
