THOUBAL: The notice of the Director of University and Higher Education which was announced recently recognizing online admission for 2020-21 session of all the state government and aided colleges has irked Lilong Haoreibi College Students’ Union.
A release signed by the finance secretary of the union Md Sadam Khan stated that the notice of the director should not be implemented at Lilong Haoreibi College at any cost.
The release also said that the present principal of Lilong Haoreibi College Dr. A. Surendrajit had allegedly misused college funds on several occasions including that of the students’ union since he took the charge of principal of this college. No development works of the college have been undertaken so far. All the relevant documents regarding the charges they leveled against the principal are in the possession of the union and it has been demanding a white paper from the higher authority since two months back, but no positive response has been received so far, it continued.
Having turned down the unions’ demands and sweeping it under the carpet, the Director Of Education had notified the process for online admission of the colleges, but this should not be enforced at Lilong Haoreibi College, the release added.
It seems that the higher authorities of the Education Department of Manipur wanted to abolish Lilong Haoreibi College. It is not reasonable of the higher authority to remain silent on the issue. The higher authority should be held responsible for any unwanted incidents if the high-headed and corrupted principal is not transferred from the college at the earliest, the union warned.
The release also warned that the guilty principal should be suspended and staff under his engagement should be removed from their respective posts. The union also demanded the conducting of a high level enquiry against the principal. The shutting down of Administrative Block will be continued since their demands have not been met and it will be followed by severe forms of agitations, the release added.
