IMPHAL: A 55 year old Covid-19 positive woman from Thoubal district expired at RIMS taking the total tally of Covid-19 related deaths to 29 on Tuesday.
The latest Covid-19 victim who from Lilong Atoukhong was admitted to RIMS on August 21, 2020 with acute respiratory distress syndrome, acute chronic kidney disease, hypothyroidism, post respiratory pacemaker implantation with Covid-19. She expired Monday around 6.30 PM.
Meanwhile, state’s tally of Covid-19 positive cases has jumped to 6382 with 130 more fresh cases including 127 from general population and three from Central Armed Police Forces testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
According to a statement issued by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, the 130 fresh cases were tested positive for Covid-19 at Viral Research & Diagnostic Laboratory of RIMS (17), VRDL JNIMS (4), Raj Medicity (4), Ukhrul district (2), Thoubal district (19), Shija Hospital (2), Babina Diagnostic (12), Kangpokpi district (2), Imphal west (50), Jiribam (6), Churachandpur (6), Bishnupur (3), Imphal East (2), Tamenglong (1).
Of the 127 civilians tested positive, 125 are locally transmitted, informed the State Health Department.
They belong to Imphal West district (60), Imphal east district (5),Thoubal district (22), Ukhrul district (2), Kangpokpi district (1), Chandel district (1), Churachandpur district (6), Senapati district (2), Kangpokpi district (2), Tamenglong district (14), Jiribam district (6) and Bishnupur district (7). All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCCR.
Meanwhile, 120 Covid patients were discharged from CAPF (54), CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong (38), CCC UNACCO Meitram (14), PR Kakching (2), RD Wing (2), TK Ukhrul (1), Senapati (2), CCC Noney (5) and Tamegnglong (2) after they were found Covid-19 free on RT PCR test.
With altogether 4450 Covid-19 patients having recovered and been discharged, state’s active Covid-19 cases stand at 1903. Recovery rate pegs at 69.72 percent by Tuesday, added the Health Department.
The release further informed that as a part of the intensive awareness drive, miking was carried out in the areas of Sayang road, Sega road, Thokchom Leikai, Hodam Leirak, Takhel Leikai, Khagempalli Elangbam Leikai, Yaiskul, Keishampat, Thangmeiband, Nagamapal and Sogoland Meino Leirak in Imphal West district.
