Tally surges to 8320 with 110 fresh cases testing positive for COVID-19
IMPHAL: With a 75 year old man from Imphal east district succumbing to COVID-19 at JNIMS, state’s tally of COVID-19 related death cases has surged to 48 on Wednesday.
According to a daily bulletin updated by Dr Shasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director Health Department and Spokesperson Covid Common Control Room, in the last 24 hours, altogether 110 fresh positive cases including 93 civilians and 17 personnel of CAPF were detected at VRDL RIMS – 20, JNIMS -12,RD Wing-6, Ukhrul-4, Imphal east RAT-16, Thoubal-9, Shija Hospital-3, RIMS RAT-1, Kangpokpi-9, Churachandpur-10, Bishnupur-4, Jivan Hospital-2, Babina Diagnostic-11 and Raj Medicity-3.
With this, the cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases has surged to 8320.
The district wise distribution of the new cases of Covid-19 is Imphal West district -26, Imphal east-29, Thoubal-18, Noney-3, Kangpokpi-1, Ukhrul-2, Churachandpur-10 and Bishnupur-4.
The 93 civilians who tested positive include 66 males and 27 females and 79 are locally transmitted with no travel history.
All the infected patients will be shifted to COVID-19 care facilities and necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, added the statement of CCR.
In the last 24 hours, 103 persons were recovered and discharged, thus recovery rate pegging at 78.37 percent on Wednesday.
They were discharged from CAPF -23, RIMS-2, JNIMS-6, CCC Lamding Thoubal-10, NIELIT Churachandpur- 11, Lanva Churachandpur-1, CCC UNACCO-5, CCC Lamboikhongnangkhong -35, Senapati-4, Jiribam-1 and Kangpokpi-5 after they were found Covid free on RT PCR test.
Altogether, 6521 patients have recovered and the active Covid-19 cases stands at 1751 in the state. The figure includes 1446 civilians and 305 security personnel.
The Health department advised the individuals who were in contact with a positive person to isolate immediately and get themselves tested. It also asked to contact control room or CMO for further testing to break the chain collectively.
