One dead, 10 injured in clash between two villages

Thoubal: One person died and 10 others were injured from two villages during clashes that happened between villagers of Aimol Chingnunghut and Aimol Khunyai due to a dispute over a land located under Machi Police station, Tengnoupal district. The clash began at around 4.45 PM on Saturday.

According to sources, to control the situation DC Tengnoupal district has imposed CrPC Section 144 under Sub-Section-2 at the entire areas of both the villages Aimol Khunyai and Aimol Chingnunghut.

The deceased was identified as Thangjalal son of Wanailal. It was reported that the deceased was a pastor of Aimol Chingnunghut village. Source said that he was rushed to Jivan Hospital in Kakching but was declared dead in the hospital.

When the media person talked to the doctor of the hospital, it reported that there is no mark of any injury in his body and said that he was suspected to be dead from heart attack during the clash. Doctors informed that they are yet to know the exact cause of death as the post mortem is yet to be done. 

The source further said that the erection of a monolith/stone at the boundary of the two villages in the presence of DC Tengnoupal but the event was stopped as both the villages had been started arguments on the day. 

It was reported that the clashes started at around 4.45 PM when some of the youth of Aimol Khunyai were playing football, many villagers from Aimol Chingnunghut started attacking them holding sharp weapons, sticks, deadly weapons, etc.

After coming to know the news of the clash, the villagers of Aimol Khunyai came out and started fighting between the two villages. In the midst of the clash, 10 persons from both the villages got injured in head, hand etc. An A-Star car driven by one villager of Aimol Chingnunghut was also smashed.

Right after hearing the news of the clash, numbers of police personnel of Tengnoupal and Kakching districts were sent at the spot to control the situation. Many police personnel were deployed to avoid tense situations in the future again.
