BISHNUPUR: DC Bishnupur Neeta Arambam led a team of officials and local leaders that inspected office buildings in the district head quarter for a possible convenient space to move the Covid-19 isolation ward which is now stationed at the Bishnupur District Hospital.
According to sources, the idea is to relocate the isolation ward while allowing the district hospital to discharge its normal function as a government hospital.
CMO Bishnupur Dr. L. Gojendra, Medical Superintendent of Bishnupur District Hospital Dr. N. Bino, chairperson of Bishnupur Municipal Council L. Maniyaima, convenor of Covid-19 Relief Committee Bishnupur N. Joykumar and other volunteers, leader of Lumlangdong Apunba Meira Paibi L. Pramo were among the members of the spot hunting squad.
After a detailed tour, a general conclusion was reached that the Old Mini Secretariate Building at Loikoipat is an ideal replacement with adequate water and power arrangement and enough infrastructure to be converted into a 75/100 bedded hospital. If adequate staff can put together and basic materials like bed and mattresses and amenities are arranged then the transition can be started immediately, it was noted.
On the other hand, after two doctors and a nurse were found Covid-19 positive at Bishnupur District Hospital some days ago, a fear psychosis has gripped the local population due to apprehension of community spread happening. Bishnupur keithel don a deserted look as vendors and shopkeepers abandoned commercial activities and instead stuck to home quarantine mode showing preference for self protection and social distancing policies with the desire to avoid infection.
It may be recalled that more than 48 persons, including hospital staff and outsiders who had come into close contact with the medical personnel, had to send their samples for testing for infection in the aftermath.
