Thoubal: National Integration Day- Quami Ekta Week was observed on the birth anniversary of former late Prime Minister Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, the only female PM of India, organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal, on Thursday at NYK Thoubal office.
The Quami Ekta Week was inaugurated in the presence of NYK volunteers and youth clubs’ leaders of around 10 youth clubs of Heirok and Khangabok area, who later did affiliation and re-affiliation with NYK Thoubal under the Youth Club Development Campaign of NYKS. Keynote and welcome address was given by Laishram Deban Singh, Secy of YBC Club Heirok who highlighted the theme of Quami Ekta Week- Secularism, Anti-Communalism and Non-violence and the various days of Quami Ekta Week. The programmes in the following days are Minorities Welfare Day, Linguistic Harmony Day, Weaker Sections, Cultural Unity Day, Women’s Day, and Conservation Day.
District Youth Co-ordinator, Michael T Mate led the national integration pledge with the gathering and also spoke on the life and legacy of Indira Gandhi. National Youth volunteer of Thoubal Block, N. Premchand on the behalf of NYK Thoubal highlighted the pertinent programs and activities of NYKS to the members of youth clubs. The programs was closed with affiliation and re-affiliation of Youth Clubs with NYK Thoubal under “ Youth Club Development Campaign” of NYKS
