IMPHAL: The Naga Students’ Union, Delhi (NSUD) official has warned its fellow members not to fall prey to fake messages and misinterpretation going round about purported plans by state governments to evacuate stranded citizens living in different cities particularly those from Manipur and Nagaland states.

The NSUD furthered clarified to members from the community who are stranded in the different cities that there is no official notification that the state government has arranged special train/flight to evacuate stranded citizens till date. Also the undertaking for submission of names and details of individuals/members by the CSOs and volunteers is not a confirmation of arrangement of taking them back to their respective states, added NSUD.

The NSUD official furthered mentioned that the recent collection of data is to calculate the approximate numbers of stranded members in different cities for reference while taking up necessary measures and precautions for taking them back to the respective state after lockdown.

However, it is extremely unfortunate that the NSUD official phone numbers have been bombarded with so many distress calls on a daily basis and such unfounded rumors circulated in the social media have also added another task for the NSUD office bearers amid the problem of Novel Coronavirus in the entire world, NSUD added.

The union has furthered advised all its members stranded in different cities to restrain from sharing fake news and rumors in future to avoid panic and also appealed to the community members to anticipate in good faith for official notification from respective state governments for the evacuation.
