No entry for returnees sans negative report: Govt

Imphal: The State on Thursday reported 18 new Covid-19 positive cases when 849 samples were tested at different labs, thus pushing the tally of Covid-19 infection in the state to 29,597.

Meanwhile, in view of the gradual surge in fresh Covid-19 positive caseload, state health department has issued an order stating that all persons entering Manipur whether by air or by road and irrespective of place of origin shall be allowed entry only on mandatory production of a negative RT-PCR/TruenatCB-NAAT Covid-19 test report taken within 72 hours from arrival in the state.

The order will be effective from April 18. All army/CAPF units are instructed to arrange for Covid-19 testing of their personnel entering the state, added the Health department.

According to a press release issued by Covid-19 Common Control room, in the span of 24 hours, 15 persons from general population and 3 persons from CAPF were detected positive for the virus.

The fresh cases from among the civilians belonged to Imphal West (8), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Churachandpur (3) and Kangpokpi (1).

The state reported no Covid related death in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, 10 persons were discharged after recovery from the virus. The number of recovered cases stood at 29,062 while the active cases have been left with 141. Recovery rate stood at 98.25 %.

In the span of 24 hours, Thoubal district found two new positive cases, prompting the district administration to take up immediate precautionary measures.

Of the two cases, one is a returnee while the other is locally transmitted. Thoubal district which remained free Covid-19 for several days back has now registered four active cases.

The two individuals are residents of Heirok Part 3 and Khangabok part 3 Laipat Leikai. DC Thoubal has declared the two locations as containment zone.
