TMB Report

IMPHAL: The Manipur Peoples’ Democratic Front (MPDF) on Sunday informed that till date there is no existence of electricity and water supply in five villages under Phungyar Assembly constituency namely Phaimol, Molvailup, Kultuh, Phaikoh and Ashi villages.

The statement was said by the Secretary of MPDF Sapam Samungou during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club.

Addressing media persons, Sapam Samungou informed that the related departments has brought transformers, wires and some electric posts, to the villages where the same items are still lying. The villagers are yet to enjoy the benefits of electricity and water in the said villages till now. The villagers are facing lots of difficulties and problems owing to the absence of power supply which is exacerbated due to dilapidated inter villages roads and medical facility. He stated that the Primary Health Centre (PHC) there is also in a critical condition and lacks proper building and infrastructure.

At the same time, the roads in all the villages are in deplorable conditions, especially the one from Phaimol to Lakhan village via Kamjong, which is the main lifeline of the said villages. To and fro movement and other needs for transportation are very difficult specially during the rainy season, he added.

He appealed to the BJP state government led by CM N. Biren Singh to look into the grievances and problems being faced by the villagers at the earliest. As we all know that the present government is taking up various schemes, projects and mission related to the development of villages in the hills like “Go to Village” and various other projects which were never before in the history of Manipur in the past, said Secretary of MPDF reflecting his optimism of positive intervention from the government.

He further informed that the various difficulties and problems that the villagers there have encountered could be due to lack of initiative on part of the District Collector of Kamjong district. There are indication of lack of interaction from the side of the DC with important officials, staffs and employees of the different departments like Phed, water supply, power department and other department. He also further appealed to state government to look into the matters very seriously while making his conclusion on his observation.
