IMPHAL: The newly elected executive members of Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) for the tenure 2020-22 took oath on Sunday at Sana Konung, Palace Compound (Chonga Bond) in the presence of Titular King Leishemba Sanajaoba.
The newly elected executive office bearers of DESAM for the year 2020-22 are namely, Nameirakpam Edison as the new president of the student’s alliance and Oinam Shital as vice-president; Secretary General Leishangthem Lamyanba Meitei; Assistant Secretary General Mayengbam Somorjit Luwang; Secretary Organization and Co-ordination Nongthombam Thoithoiba; Secretary Finance and Account Thiyam Birjit Luwang; Secretary Publicity and Propaganda Shamurailatpam Rishikumar; Secretary Education and Academic Affairs Longjam Robin; Secretary Social Welfare Akham Rishikumar; Secretary Cultural Affairs Oinam Surjakanta; Secretary Games and Sports Thongratasam Mani; Secretary North east Students Affairs Ningthoujam Rishikanta; Secretary Office Nigthoujam Rajesh; Secretary Auditor General Shamurailatpam Devadutta; Secretary Health and Environment Oinam Romesh; Secretary Special Task Force and Anti-Drug Abuse Thounaojam Somol Luwang and Secretary Women Welfare Sanoujam Nikita.
President of DESAM Nameirakpam Edison said that the newly elected executive office bearers of DESAM will continue to follow the footstep and various good activities done by the former executive members for the welfare of the students in the State. Today, our society is facing various difficulties and suffering because of citizens has forgotten to do their own responsibility and duties, he said.
He further said that the students’ alliance will carry out different activity to reach out and in order to extend feeling of sentiment our own motherland Manipur to the entire young generation. It is said that the government colleges teachers have come to launched different protests for the last many days but unfortunately within these few days the protest of teachers has worsen leading to many colleges in state being paralyzed, added N. Edison.
He also problems are occurring because state government and other concerned authorities were ignoring, which is like an act of playing to the welfare of the teachers like giving a temporary assurance for a short term solution.
Stating that government college teachers have made a statement of boycotting the upcoming HSLC and HSLS, 2020 which begins from February 14, he appealed to the state government to bring an amicable solution at the earliest. If the situation remains like this for a long period, then the students’ organizations might launch different kinds of demonstration in the coming days, the government should understand this, he said. He further appealed to the state government to bring earliest solution for the sake of the entire students’ in order to conduct the upcoming elementary school and higher level examination in peace and harmony.
