IMPHAL: In a rare case, a Covid-19-recovered patient, who was sent for home quarantine after being discharged from JNIMS isolation ward following a negative result, is said to have tested positive again for the contagion.
The individual is said to be a resident of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai and he was quarantined at his home for the past 20 days. Earlier, he had undergone quarantine at the centre opened at Maria Montessori School, Koirengei for around one month. As he tested positive for the virus, he was kept at JNIMS isolation ward for some days. Having tested negative, he was discharged from JNIMS. His sample was collected and found to be positive again today, sources said.
Imphal West DC has declared a containment zone in the geographical area of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai.
Meanwhile, 11 more fresh cases were detected positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours to take the total count to 1593.
According to a press release issued by COVID-19 Common Control Room, four cases were detected positive at RIMS lab and seven at SDH Lab Jiribam.
The fresh cases included one from Imphal West district, seven from Jiribam district and three from Ukhrul district. They have been shifted to Covid care facilities and Health authority is taking up all necessary preventive and control measures like containment and contact tracing, added the statement.
Besides that, 11 persons were discharged from the treatment facilities today after they were found COVID-19 free on RT PCR test. One patient was discharged from Covid Care centre, Meitram, two from Kamjong and eight from CCC, Ukhrul.
The state’s active cases stand at 750. 843 patients have recovered, recording a recovery rate of 52.91 by Saturday.
Meanwhile, status update shared by IDSP informed that the 750 active COVID-cases are currently undergoing treatment at RIMS COVID care centre, RIMS, JNIMS, District Hospital Bishnupur, UNACCO School, Meitram, TK Woodland Resort, Tamenglong Higher Secondary School, CCC/IO Ward Churachandpur, CCC, Senapati, District Hospital Ukhrul, District Hospital Thoubal, IGTU Makhan, CCC Kakching, DH Jiribam, CCC Phungyar, Kasom Khullen and District QCs respectively.
In the last 24 hours, 856 samples were tested at RIMS and all turned out to be negative except 4. 126 samples were tested at DH Jiribam and 7 of them turned out to be positive while four samples were tested at STDC/IRL Imphal and all turned out to be negative.
