NAB PS arrests drug traffickers, another two arrested with WIN Cigarettes

Imphal: A team of NAB Police Station has arrested two drug traffickers from Tuibong Bazar under Churachandpur district on Friday around 4:30 pm.

The arrested drug traffickers are identified as Lhingkhonie Haokip (49 years), wife of (L) Thangjang Haokip, R/o Songdo Village, Henglep, Churachandpur District and Lemthang Vaiphei @ Thangpoi (34), son of (L) Paocha Vaiphei, R/o Tuibong Village, Churachandpur District.

The drug traffickers’ were arrested along with 375 gram of contraband Heroin powder.

A case has been registered at NAB Police Station for further investigation.

On the other hand, a team of Commando of Kakching District CDO Unit has arrested two persons for possession of illegal products foreign made WIN Cigarettes from in front of Sora Khunuda Ching Police Outpost along NH-102 on Friday around 9:30 am.

The arrested persons are identified as Md. Tarique Ahamed (30 years), son of Md. Siraj Ahamed of Lilong Haoreibi Leihaokhong and Sayed Wahidur Rahaman (49), son of Sayed Noor Rahaman of Lilong Turel Ahanbi Mathakyangbi Leikai.

According to police sources, the Commando team led by Sub. Ksh Prakash Singh intercepted one Tata Super ACE bearing registration number MN02B 5298, red in colour, driven by Md. Tarique Ahamed along with Sayed Wahidur Rahaman in front of Sora Khunuda Ching Police Outpost along NH-102.

Upon checking the vehicle, the Commando team found 27 numbers of cartoon boxes containing 500 foreign made WIN Cigarette boxes each with a total of 13,500 numbers of WIN Cigarette boxes concealed inside the vehicle covered by a red tarpaulin.

Upon questioning, the driver Md. Tarique Ahamed stated that the items belonged to Sayed Wahidur Rahaman.

Later the commando team seized the items and arrested the duo by observing formalities.

The arrested person along with the seized items were later handed over to Custom Office for further necessary legal action where necessary action has been taken up against the arrested persons for breaking the Covid-19 lockdown guidelines, the source added.
