TMB Report

IMPHAL: The Manipur Indigenous Farmers Committee (MTIFC) has called for a 48-hours national highway bandh on March 6 and 7 expression discontentment towards the inaction of the state government despite appeals against the re-engagement of (Rtd) Chief Engineer L. Brojendro Singh.

Stating that the re-engagement of L. Brojendro Singh as the Chief engineer cum Technical Consultant of the Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills as totally unconstitutional and utter shock to the general public, Thuisinlung Kamei, VP, MTIFC said in a press statement that the committee is strongly against the act. Such action of the government is totally uncalled for from the side of the effective administration of the present government, Kamei stated.

Since the government failed to revoke the engagement of the said retired officer as the CE cum Technical Consultant in the department of TAH, the committee resolved to proceed with total blockade/shut down in all the National Highways for 48 hours, ie. March 6 and 7. The committee also resolved to continue with the blockade indefinitely if the government fails to address the matter within the 48 hours, it stated.
