IMPHAL: The long shutdown of educational system due to country wide lockdown to fight against outbreak of COVID-19 has bitterlybeen affecting the academic calendar of every institution in the state and therefore Manipur Students’ Federation (MSF) appealed the state government to take up plans and establish policy to start resuming academic calendar, stated in a press conference held at its head office on Tuesday.
President of MSF Sajad Loyamayum stated that since Manipur has now returned to normalcy and classified as safer green zone in the statistics to rank magnitude of outbreak of COVID-19 areas in the country, therefore the concern authorities should set up unique arrangement and establish policies for effective environmental regulations to re-start academic calendar in the state.
MSF demanded a separate state government policy instead of waiting for directives from the Centre and UGC guidelines so that students of all the institutions in the state might would have minimum suffering on their academic calendar and rights of education. As per the notification of UGC on 25th April, re-opening of school, college and all the institution were slated for the month of September, Sajad Loyamayum mentioned.
MSF appreciated the government, institutions and individuals conducting online classes for students during lockdown. He however said that online classes have limitations and many institutions have not even started such classes even now, Sajad said.
He demanded the government to come out with an absolute overall plan and policy that covers every aspect of educational system for resuming its function in the state.
