IMPHAL: The Nungba Pei (Customary Court) has stated that it is compelled to take action against the Manipur State Drivers’ Union for their repeated failure and negligence to meet their promises in connection with the killing of Gaihuamlung Kamei, son of Poukhamlung Kamei of Nungba on January 28, 2020, along NH-37.
In a press release signed by its Pei Chairman Guangkhurei Kamei and Pei Secretary Bandai Kamei stated that in this matter, the “MSDU has failed to keep their agreements/promises on February 15, 2020, February 28, 2020 and again on March 6, 2020 and still neglecting citing lame excuses one after another.
It was said that the MSDU had given an ultimatum through this public information to meet their agreements/promises on or before July 25, 2020 or they will face the consequences.
That, if they failed to meet their agreements/promises within the given time all the vehicles under the MSDU will not be allowed to pass through operate the NH-37 from the next day July 25, 2020. It was said that the MSDU will be held responsible for all the consequences arising out of this situation.
In connection with the issue, the Nungba “pei” (Customary court) appealed to all the general public to co-operate in this regard for the welfare of the general public.
