IMPHAL: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has condemned the gang-rape and death of a minor girl in the strongest term and requested the state government to do everything in their capacity to take up necessary actions immediately and ensure justice to the deceased girl and her family so that it can be set as an exemplary incident to eradicate the alarming rate of crimes against women in the State.
In a press release of MSCW signed by its Chairperson Professor Binota Meinam, it was stated that during a meeting the Chairperson of MSCW urged the State government to book the perpetrators at the earliest possible date. It was stated that the Chairperson and members of the Commission strongly condemned such inhumane acts and demanded justice for the deceased girl.
It was further stated and appealed to all the social media users not to put up the deceased
photographs and her identity. It may invite severe punishment under The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act 2000, the commission warned.
The meeting was conducted in the chamber of the Chairperson of MSCW, D.C Office complex, Imphal West on Monday.
