TMB Report

IMPHAL: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee while appreciating the initiatives being taken up by Manipur Government to contain the deadly pandemic COVID-19 shared some suggestions for consideration by the state administration in formulating policies in the fight against COVID-19.

MPCC President M Okendro in a letter addressed to the Chief Minister observed that a single web portal dedicated to issues related with only COVlD-19 will give ease of access to the public. Such portal shall have all information with regards to the facilities that the state government provides like PPEs, ventilators, ICUs, hospitals, isolation and quarantine facilities, relevant government orders and relief details.

Stating that ASHA workers in the state are highly skilled and could penetrate to every corner in the state and they have access to individual information of the families in their area of operation, it urged the Chief Minister to utilize their service and provide them appropriate safety gears and training. This will put the state in advantage while fighting against COVID 19 pandemic.

While urging for bringing better transparency and accountability in the distribution of free/subsidized relief materials, it said that this will give more confidence to the public with regards to the activities of the state government. Distribution of the relief materials may be done through the elected local bodies like councilors, members of District Councils, Zilla Parishads, Pradhans, Ward Members etc. Anganwadl workers/helpers of a locality may be used in the distribution work in that area.

Front line workers like state security forces, doctors, nurses and health workers are exposed completely to infection and as such, service protocol of these workers require immediate improvement in terms of sanitization and health safety in view of the contagious virus, so that they could go home properly sanitized to the safety of their families and friends, Okendro stated in the letter.
