BJP running a dictatorship form of government: O Ibobi
Imphal: The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) on Friday organized a peaceful sit-in-protest at the Congress Bhavan raising its voice against the Farms Bill passed by the BJP-led NDA government in the centre and calling saving the farmers of the country and the economy.
Former CM Okram Ibobi Singh has on Friday accused the BJP of running a dictatorial form of governments, both at the Centre and the state.
Ibobi made the allegation while responding to a query from the media during a protest against the Farm Bills at Congress Bhavan here.
The former chief minister stated that the NDA government led by the BJP had passed the bills in both houses of the Parliament without undergoing proper discussions. The bills are against the interest of the farmers and we condemn it, the Congress leader said.
Ibobi also stated that the mishandling of AICC Chief Rahul Gandhi by police in Uttar Pradesh while the latter was on his way to visit the family of a rape victim was very unfortunate.
Rahul Gandhi went to visit the family in order to console them and there is nothing wrong in that. But the way he was mishandled by the UP police is very unfortunate. It shows that the NDA and the BJP are running dictatorial governments, both at the Centre and in the state, the ex-CM stated.
He also stated that the Farm Bills will adversely affect the farmers across the country and called for widespread protest against the same.
During the protest held at Congress Bhavan, the supporters of the Congress party displayed placards with texts such as “Don’t suppress the voice of farmers”, “Save Farmers, Save Economy”, “Don’t go unilateral, Save Economy”, etc.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, today, Ibobi made an indirect attack at his opponents in the BJP stating that on this day not only cleaning the surroundings for publicity sake like Swachh Bharat Mission is not enough but sincere efforts should be made to cleanse oneself spiritually.
