IMPHAL: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee has condoled the sudden demise of veteran politician and former Chief Minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi.
Led by MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro, the party on Tuesday observed two minute silent condolence as a tribute to the late politician at Congress Bhavan here, where CLP leader O. Ibobi, CWC Member Gaikhangam, MPCC VP Dr Kh. Ratankumar, PCC office bearers, frontal office bearers attended.
The condolence meeting recounted the contribution of the late Congress leader.
CLP leader Okram Ibobi said that demise of Tarun Gogoi, who contributed a lot in political arena, is an irrevocable loss not only for Assam but also for the country. He was the longest Chief Minister in Assam who had good administrative experience.
MPCC president Moirangthem Okendro said that the party wholeheartedly condoled the demise of the leader. He ruled Assam as a Chief minister from 2001 to 2016. He was also an MP. He was such a leader who played a vital role in subverting insurgency movement in Assam. The achievements and contributions of Gogoi cannot be forgotten.
