IMPHAL: The Proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) celebrated the 33rd Raising Day of its armed wing Manipur People’s Army at the CHQ, GHQ, different Units and Battalions on Sunday.
Military Affairs Committee Chairman and UNLF Chairman Kh. Pambei, Vice Chairman, Department of Publicity Secretary S. Tamphajao, Organisation Secretary Ksh Yoiheiba and Health & Family Welfare Secretary O. Chingkheinganbi, staffs of CHQ and officers of different departments and all rank and file took part in the function held at CHQ of the outfit.
In the function held at Manipur People’s Army’s General Head Quarters (GHQ), UNLF General Secretary-Ph. Yaimachou, Chief of Army Staff(COAS) M. Chaoba, Minority Affairs Secretary Khuman Chiru and MNRF’s External Affairs Secretary Apam Singlai, VCS of GHQ, General Staff Officers (GSO), MPA officers, NCOs, privates and officials of different departments of the organization attended.
In the function held at the Political and Military Academy HQs, principal, members and trainee officers of Academy took part. The raising day celebration was also held widely at MPA’s 291 Bn., 293 Bn., THQ and different units, External Affairs HQ, District Units and local units with pomp and gaiety.
Hoisting of MPA flag, paying tribute to the martyred cadres with observance of two minute silence condolence, reading out of MAC report, discussion of the role of MPA army in the freedom movement etc marked the occasion.
Chairman in his remark said that the only responsibility of MPA is wage war against enemy India until freedom of Manipur is restored.
He further said that only defeating the IOF is not the role of MPA. MPA should not only act as a force to fight the enemy but also take the role of civilization.
In the function held at GHQ, Party General Secretary said that the party fully believes that there is no other option but a collective fight of the communities to defend the Manipur nation from the multi-pronged hard and soft policy of India to exterminate the Manipuri nation.
The outfit also hailed all walks of life who extended support mentally, physically and financially to ensure smooth celebration of the raising day.
