IMPHAL: Member of Parliament Dr. RK Ranjan Singh has inaugurated the office for Alcohol-based Herbal “Marjing Hand Sanitizer” manufactured by Marjing Industries Private Limited and formulated by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-North East Institute of Science and Technology (CSIR-NEIST), Branch Laboratory, Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India with support from TMH Green Private Limited, Tokyo, Japan.
The inauguration was done in the presence of Outer Lok Sabha MP Dr. Lorho S. Pfoze, vice-Chancellor of CAU Professor M. Premjit Singh and Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-NEIST, Branch Laboratory Lamphelpat Dr. H. Birkumar Singh and President of Marjing Industries Private Limited Mayanglangbam Khelendro Singh at the College of Agriculture, CAU, Iroisemba on Saturday.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration, Inner Lok Sabha MP Dr. RK Ranjan Singh said that north eastern states particularly Manipur has lots of varieties of species of flora and fauna, minerals, oil and various resources. But we still yet to identify the various species found in the state. Fortunately, after the establishment of RIMS, MU, Central Agricultural University and with the support of CSIR-NEIST, we have successfully created a feasible workable environment and informative environment now.
Dr Ranjan further said that many highly valued added products have been almost in the condition of extinction but we have regenerated such agriculture products again. We need scientific documentation, field surveys and analysis of the various products found in the state of Manipur. We are little bit behind in skill on post-harvest technology, food processing, he said and called on more entrepreneurs to participate in post-harvest technology in order to preserve the different products available in the state. Let us all work hard together so that a Manipur can be the best participant of the Act East Policy.
