Imphal: Lok Sabha MP Dr. RK Ranjan took the second shot of Covid-19 vaccine at JNIMS on Tuesday. The MP had received the first shot on March 28 last.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the vaccination, MP Ranjan reiterated the need for a more stringent systematic precaution in view of the unprecedented rise in Covid-19 positive caseload and death cases. People need to be well aware of the volatile situation and take maximum personal precautions rather than being forced by the police to obey the SOPs prescribed by the Government, he said.
The Centre had already agreed to set up oxygen manufacturing plant in the State, Ranjan said as quoting Chief Minister. Contractual health care staff, who have been terminated from the job have been re-engaged to fight Covid-19 pandemic.
Regarding the Supreme Court directive to impose total shut down, the MP said that BJP-led NDA government decided to impose partial lock down/containment only in the Covid-19 hotspot areas instead of total lockdown in view of the public suffering and precarious economy faced as fallout of the complete shutdown imposed in the past. State Government recently announced greater Imphal area only as containment zone to ensure that the people do not suffer, he added. He also appealed to the people to get vaccinated to get rid of the coronavirus.
