Imphal: While the world is taking up preventive and precautionary measures to avoid spread of the current Novel Coronavirus epidemic in India and world, people in Moreh, the Indo-Myanmar border town are still carrying on social gathering and the market places are also opened as if they are not aware or worried about the pandemic.
As per Government order issued on March 20, 2020, Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal District Matanglambam Rajkumar has issued an order noticing to shutdown Moreh market as well as to avoid social gathering from March 21 to 25, 2020.
However, there is no image of any actions to the issued order from the ADC and SDO Moreh by the law enforcement agencies there.
Despite the State Government imposition of a ban on inter-state passenger services, many goods have been brought from Kakching side and sold at the Moreh Market.
Though the Namphalong market has been shut down after the border gate of Indo-Myanmar has been sealed, it was witnessed that people in Moreh moving around without having no fear of the Coronavirus, and the fear have been enhanced as there was no proper preventive and precautionary measures being taken up by the authority concerns so far.
