Moreh CDO seizes large quantities of banned foreign products, 5 apprehended

MOREH: A team of Moreh police commando had seized large quantities of smuggled foreign cigarette and apprehended five individuals on May 9 near Khudengthabi village along Imphal – Moreh road.

According to report the police commando received an input about transportation of banned foreign cigarettes (WIN), mosquito repellent coil (Godzilla) and betel nut (Supari) at late night amidst curfew imposed by the district administration.

Two teams of Moreh CDO launched mobile frisking and checking point at near Khudengthabi village. Around 12:30am the CDO teams intercepted two pickup trucks (407 Truck) truck – MN04A/2953 and MN01/6141.

The commando team halted the trucks and conducted frisking and checking. Many Cartoon boxes of cigarette, Godzilla and supari were found loaded inside the two trucks. Due to the vulnerability of the spot the team brought the two trucks along with the consignment and persons to Moreh police IB Complex. 70 cartoon boxes containing 10 × 50 packets each of WIN cigarette, 4-Cartoon boxes of Godzilla (mosquito repellent coil) and 3-bags of Supari were recovered from the two trucks.

The accused persons who transported the banned products were identified as Md. Jamir Khan (38 years) son of Md. Yusub Ali of Sora Bazar, Ziyoulhak (37) son of Md Fazur Rahaman of Sora Awang Leikai, Wangmayum Tallip(19) son of Md. Yussuf Ali of Sora Awang Leikai, Md Nawaz Khan (25) son of Md. Kallam of Sora Karanchi, Md. Firoz Khan(38) son of Md.Hassan of Sora Mamang Leikai.
