Imphal: As a part of security measures, State Police continued to crack down on curfew and lock down violators, people moving around without face masks and not maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State.
ADGP (LO) L. Kailun in a press note stated that a fine of Rs. 1,22,409 was collected from 1104 curfew and lockdown violators who were detained along with 842 vehicles detained during a drive conducted on Thursday.
ADGP (LO) in the press note has warned that curfew and lockdown violators will be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The detention of violators and vehicles and collection of fines were reported from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Chandel, Churachandpur, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong District Police Station during the drive carried out on Thursday.
