THOUBAL: Member of Ningol Club, Heirok made monetary contribution to the authorities of TN Memorial English School and Boarding which was ravaged in a major fire, by making a visit at the school on Friday.
According to general secretary of the club, Sophia Khundongbam, massive destruction was brought about to the infrastructure of the school as well as the residence of the proprietor on the intervening night of February 11 and 12. Some of the serious sufferers were the students, particularly those who will be appearing at the incoming board exams, whose books, study items and even their admit cards were destroyed in the fire. Sharing empathy with the stress heaped on the founder of the school, the club came up with the step of extending financial support, with the hope of alleviating the misery to some extent.
The club further lauded Heirok MLA and education minister Th Radheshyam for stepping up to the rescue of the students with provision of new books. Sophiya while reminding the past demand for setting up a fire service station stated that the view had been reinforced after the occurrence of the incident. She also pointed out the need for the state administration to train the SPO 300 that had been established with the idea of responding to such accidents in the locality and provided all possible assistances.
