MMWO helps needy Chadong villagers, NEEW gives food products to scribes

IMPHAL: The Manipur Muslim Welfare Organization (MMWO) has on Wednesday distributed edible items to villagers of Chadong especially the underprivileged sections among them who are suffering due to Covid-19 lockdown.

Apart from distribution of essential commodities, the MMWO and villagers of Chadong also shared their various grievances and happiness they had encountered so far during the process of the lockdown.

In a press release MMWO further stated that in the past years, the Chadong villagers lead a live which was dependant on their paddy fields as the major source of their livelihood. But unfortunately with the construction of Mapithel dam in that area, the villagers are facing various difficulties and problems as the areas has been flooded with water as well as there is no work to earn money amid this critical situation.

The organization in the statement informed that it is looking forward to extend help to those villagers in different villages in the hill areas suffering from Covid-19 lockdown. As a calendar programme of the organization, it is also continuing its distribution of essential items to those people suffering from Covid-19 lockdown like orphans, widows and disabled persons. The organization had also distributed essential items in different places namely Keirak Muslim Sekmiajing, Ngakhapat, Hayel labuk, Hangoon, Santhel, Uchiwa, Nastao, Khelakhong and Maibam located under Kakching district.

The organisations expressed its deep condolences to the family members of the Meitei Pangal woman from Khomidok, who passed away in Mumbai where she had gone for medical treatment of her husband.

On the other hand, the New Economic Evolution of the World (NEEW) has handed over essential items to AMWJU like potatoes, onions, edible oil, cabbage and salt at a simple distribution function held at Manipur Press Club on Wednesday. The items were later distributed to all media houses through their representatives.
