IMPHAL: Under the ambit of the activities of Konthoujam Gojendro Foundation, MLA Govindas Konthoujam has distributed sewing machines to 27 women and one man classified as among the poorest families at the 28 polling station of his assembly constituency. The objective of providing the machines is to promote self employment for the unemployment youths of Bishnupur.
As per report the function which was held at the residence of the Bishnupur MLA Govindas Konthoujam, was attended by Bishnupur Block Congress Committee (BBCC) President Ch. Ibotombi , vice President K. Lukhoi, Kh. Khutmacha, Nachou Zilla Parishad Pradhan N. Jadu and Secy. Kh. Govind Singh and the legislator himself as dignitaries of the function.
While delivering his speech the MLA said that the sewing machines were distributed in order to help increase the families sources of income and urged them not to sell them latter, reminding that on earlier occasion weaving loom (phisa kol) provided to villagers were found to have been sold to others when he made visits to their homes.
Further, he mentioned that it was the first phase of distribution and other youths belonging to different polling stations will also provided sewing machines in subsequent phases which will follow at the earliest.
