MLA Chaltonlien hospitalized after testing positive for Covid-19

IMPHAL: Tipaimukh MLA Dr Chaltonlien Amo is undergoing treatment at RIMS after he tested positive for COVID-19. His health condition is stable, sources said.

The legislator, who was detected positive for the virus a few days ago, has been under home isolation. With his oxygen level decreased below 90, he was admitted to RIMS on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the state reported 156 new positive cases in the span of 24 hours while the deadly virus claimed five more lives putting the total death cases to 132. 

Five patients – a 73- year old man and 22-year old man, both from Churachandpur, a 50-year old woman from Chandel, a 59-year old woman from Imphal east and a 59-year old woman from Imphal west expired due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The first patient expired at home, while the others expired at JNIMS, Chandel District Hospital and RIMS respectively, informed the state Health department.

According to a daily bulletin of Covid Common Control Room, the 156 fresh positive cases including 154 from the general population and two from Central Armed Police Force personnel were detected for the virus in different testing centres, pushing the tally to 16,777. The press release from the CCR, however, did not mention whether the fresh cases are locally transmitted or not.  

 The fresh positive cases were detected at RIMS-13, JNIMS-15, ACME-1, Kamjong-12, Public Hospital-1, Churachandpur-10, Imphal East-8, Senapati-2, Thoubal-3, Tengnoupal-3, Shija Hospital-11, Bishnupur-5, Imphal west-24, Kangpokpi-1, Raj Medicity-2, Jiribam-4, Jivan Hospital-1, Hillside Hospital-2, Chandel-2, Babina Diagnostic-13, ACME-1, Tamenglong-20, Advanced Hospital-2.

The positive cases from among the civilians include 45 from Imphal West district, 27 from Imphal East, 16 from Thoubal, 12 from Churachandpur, 20 from Tamenglong, eight from Bishnupur, two from Chandel, three from Senapati, four from Jiribam, 13 from Kamjong, one from Kangpokpi and three from Tengnoupal, added the Health Department.

As many as 169 persons were discharged from various COVID care Hospitals.

They were discharged from CAPF- 9, Home isolation-13, RIMS-4, CCC UNACCO-42, LKK-55, Tamenglong-1, RD Wing-11, Moreh-1, TK Ukhrul-6, Thoubal-10, Bal Bavan-4, Senapati-8, JNV Chandel-1, DH Chandel-1, and CCC Lamding-3.

Till date, 12,562 out of 16,777 patients have recovered, thus recovery rate pegging at  74.87 percent on Friday. State’s total active cases stood at 4083.
