IMPHAL: The Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West on March 3 sent the juvenile accused into an observation home and allowed his ossification test in connection with alleged rape case of a married woman on February 25.
The alleged rapist was produced before the CJM, Imphal West court in charge of Thoubal CJM along with the prayer for remanding him for 5 days’ further police custody for ossification test.
The IO of the case through Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) submitted that the juvenile was arrested on February 27 in connection with the complaint lodged by the victim married woman before Hiyanglam police station stating that on February 25 at around 11.30 am while she was sleeping in her bedroom the juvenile accused entered her room and raped her forcefully by pressing her hands and mouth.
The complainant further mentioned that as the accused closed her mouth tight she cannot shout to call her mother-in-law for a help and when she managed to escape, she called for her mother-in-law after which he ran away. However, a key of motor bike belonging to the accused juvenile which he left behind was found.
During the interrogation the accused admitted to have committed the crime leveled against him and was remanded in police custody till March 3, 2020 and a prayer for five more days into police custody remand for ossification test of alleged accused juvenile was raised by the police.
On the other hand, the defense counsel of the accused claimed him to be a minor and forward a prayer to send in observation home for further necessary procedure. The court after hearing both sides sent the alleged accused juvenile into observation home and also allowed the police prayer for ossification test.
