Imphal: Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister NemchaKipgengraced the Award Ceremony of Best Performers during the observation of Matru Vandana Saptah and PoshanMaah, held on Friday at Tribal Research Institute (TRI), Chingmeirong.
The Award categories include Best Deputy Commissioner, Best District Programme Officer (DPO), Best Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) (Valley and Hill) and Best Supervisor Team (Valley and Hill).
Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, Minister Nemcha Kipgen lauded all the award winners and also the officers and officials of the Social Welfare department who selflessly work to make the Matru Vandana Saptah and Poshan Maah observation a grand success. She reiterated the fact that service to mankind is service to God as such all the officials should cater to the needs and requirements of the people without any bias and transparency should be maintained while dealing with any of the schemes given under this department. Social Welfare Department is an important department as it directly deals with the people in all spheres of life, she added.
Nemcha further stated that Anganwadi workers also play a significant role to successfully implement all the schemes and programmes of the department from the grass root level.
Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East, RangitabaliWaikhom, Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, Somorjit Salam and Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai Kalidass were among the achievers of the occasion.
Principal Secretary, Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, Vumlunmang Vualnam and Director, Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, Ngangom Uttam Singh also graced the award ceremony as Guest of Honour and President respectively.
As part of the occasion, Social Welfare Minister, Nemcha Kipgen launched PMMVY and Poshan Maah Calendars.
It may be noted that Matru Vandana Saptah is a week-long maternity benefit programme taken up under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). Under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Rs.5000/- is provided to pregnant women and lactating mothers for first living child of the family in three instalments. The amount will be transferred directly to their bank accounts or post office accounts.
