KANGPOKPI: To ensure proper distribution of PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana and Open Market Sales Scheme (OMSS) rice to the people of Kangpokpi, Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister inspected the distribution on Saturday at various distribution place in Kangpokpi AC.
The Minister inspected Upper and Lower Kalapahar distribution centre before inspecting the rice distribution centres Keithelmanbi comprising of Ward No. 1 to 10.
Later, the Minister also Inspected Gopibung and Parsian rice distribution.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen, who is also the in-charge Minister of Kangpokpi and Senapati in connection with COVID-19 was seen visibly delighted to witnessed the distribution of rice as per guidelines and protocol by the respective FPS Agents while also maintaining the protocol of social distancing during the distribution of rice.
The Minister took the lists of card holders and non-card holders in all the distribution centres.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that to ensure everyone get rice equally irrespective of Card holders and non Card holders, I have bought sufficient rice in Open Market Sales Scheme which was distributed to the non Card holders while the rice procured under PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana was distributed to card holders only.
She also assured that she will buy more rice if not sufficient but it should be ensure that the rice was distributed accordingly as per the guidelines and protocol.
The Minister while inspecting the rice distribution came across people without maintaining social distancing at some distribution. She instantly intervene and make the social distancing protocol.
She explained the importance and necessity of maintaining social distancing to the people apart from wearing mask at public place like the rice distribution centres while exhorting the agents and beneficiaries as well to maintain all the guidelines including social distancing and mandatory mask effectively at public place.
At Lower Kalapahar distribution centre, the local MDC Milan Pradhan was seen personally monitoring the distribution of rice as well as the protocol social distancing and restrict those who come to collect the rice without wearing mask which the Minister highly appreciated the act of the local MDC.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen cautioned all the FPS Agents and concerned authorities to distribute and monitor the rice distribution accordingly as per the protocol and if any discrepancies or misuse occured, severe action will be initiate accordingly.
She also said that she will personally inquire the distribution of rice and ask all the FPS agents and other concerned authorities to be very careful while distributing the rice and ensure no discrepancies or error happened in Kangpokpi.
Later, Minister Nemcha Kipgen visited District Hospital Kangpokpi and hand over cotton mask developed and donated by Renu Handloom and Handicraft Co-operative Society Limited, Imphal East.
The Minister hand over 500 pieces of Renu’s Mask to Dr. Paotinlal Haokip, i/c Medical Superintendent for the health workers of the District.
She also hand over another 100 piece of Renu’s Mask to ‘Mask Kangpokpi’ campaign, an initiative of the local civil bodies including KYU and KWWO under the aegis of Kangpokpi Town Committee.
