KANGPOKPI: Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen as she had cautioned in the review meeting begin surprise visit of the rice distribution under PMGKAY and OMSS for the month of May in her Assembly Constituency today.
The Minister inspected Kalapahar distribution centre this afternoon and ensured everyone get 5 Kg. of rice irrespective of card holders and non card holders while ensuring social distancing during the distribution.
The local nominee MDC Milan Pradhan accompanied the Minister and ensured that he will not let discrepancies occurred in the distribution of rice at Kalapahar.
Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that during this pandemic COVID-19 crisis everyone are struggling with tremendous hardships and grievances and it is important on the part of the FPS agent to ensure everyone get their share of benefits without any discrepancies.
She further reiterated that like the COVID frontline workers, the FPS agent also needs to work for humanity while remembering that service to mankind is service to God.
The Minister then cautioned again that if any FPS agent is found including in misuse of the allocated rice and involving in any discrepancies in the distribution, action will be taken instantly as per instruction and replacement will be made accordingly.
Volunteers of Kalapahar women were seen manning the entry gate where a notice, ‘No Mask, No Entry’ was hand on the gate and no one was allowed to enter into the village without wearing mask by the women volunteers.
Meanwhile, the Minister also visited the COVID Emergency Food Kiosk at Kangpokpi DHQs and had a brief interaction with the KWWO and KYU leaders while taking stock of the situation with regards to the free food service to the returnees.
She exhorted the volunteers involving in the voluntary service to keep up the good work despite of various challenges and hardships in the larger interest of the returnees while assuring that she will always try to instantly address their grievances in their service towards mankind.
The Minister also provided pork meat to the volunteers of COVID Emergency Food Kiosk and volunteers of KCC who embarked on voluntary catering and delivery of food in all the IQCs within Kangpokpi DHQs and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, the Minister also assured to provide more barrel of diesel to the SP Kangpokpi for use at the Screening Centre in dropping and picking the returnees.
Around 126 stranded people of Kangpokpi arrived since yesterday and till early morning today at the District Screening Centre from various parts of the country and Nepal.
Some arrived at the Screening Centre as early as 4:15 am in the morning. However, the Magistrate on duty his team, the medical team under the watchful supervision of Lalramsang Infimate, MCS, ADM/ADC Kangpokpi who is also the in-charge of the District Screening Centre and the police personnel under the supervision of Addl.SP (Ops), Lalminlen Misao MPS, cordially them at the screening centre.
The round the clock activeness of the officials and volunteers of KWWO and KYU give the returnees even at odd hours comfortable and avail all their needs apart from no room of hunger as free fresh food have been served under COVID Emergency Food Kiosk initiated by ADC Sadar Hills at any time.
