Imphal: The Manipur Home Guard Employees Welfare Association (MHGEWA) has celebrated the 57th Raising Day of Manipur Home Guards (MHG) at Manipur Press Club, Majorkhul on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons at the sideline of the celebration, president of MHGEWA Y. Mangi informed that the Manipur Home Guards (MHG) was first established in Manipur after a little delay in 1946. Actually, we desired to celebrate the 57th Raising Day in the presence of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and with his council of ministers and other VIPs etc but due to Covid-19 pandemic we were not able to celebrate the occasion in a grand way.
He said that the day was also celebrated to strengthen and support the Jan Andolan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The association handed over face masks and sanitizers to the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU). The National Anthem was also performed with the home guard personnel playing drums and trumpets.
Vice-president cum Company Commander of the Association Md. Tombi, and Battalion Commander M. Tikendra attended the raising day celebration.
