Imphal: A preliminary meeting to discuss the rejuvenation and reconstruction projects of the existing Tamenglong College which was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong district, Armstrong Pame has been conducted. During the meeting, he highlighted the important aspects of the plans for development of the college and need to select another campus site.
He mentioned that the current college campus is not suitable for the extensive development that is in the anvil, so finding a more appropriate location to set up the college will be more preferable. The new place should be a perfect fit with the upcoming development plans, he stated.
He cites three possible locations viz Tamenglong HQ, Dailong and Chiuluan. The location mentioned in Tamenglong HQ is now currently occupied by Christian Model English Higher Secondary School, Tamenglong.
While he highlighted about the plans, he also mentioned the proposal for construction of colleges for sciences, commerce and teachers’ training all within the same campus, along with all its subsidiary departments. The project also includes construction of hostels for both boys and girls, an auditorium, teachers’ quarter, and playground as primary targets. The meeting concluded with a decision to have a prior discussion with the stakeholders of the site enlisted. During earlier meetings, the stakeholders had emitted positive responses, it was said.
