MBC organizes one-day awareness camp on COVID-19

IMPHAL: The Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) has organized a one-day awareness program on Covid-19 at MBC Centre Church on Friday.

The program was headed by two resource persons namely professor and HOD of Psychiatry, RIMS, Dr. RK. Lenin and state-in-charge for CVCT on Covid-19 Dr. Jubilee Wahengbam. Dr. RK. Lenin spoke on the topic Impact of Covid-19 on the psyche of People followed by Dr. Jubilee who spoke on Myths and Realities of Covid-19.

Dr. RK. Lenin said that the world is witnessing a phenomenon of increase in depression due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic attacked human fear and resultantly mental problems all over the globe have escalated to such an extent that it can be regarded that there is a mental pandemic side by side with this Covid-19 pandemic.

Dr. Lenin further said that current society has four common weak points which are ignorance, superstition/myths, stigma discrimination and infrastructure he added.

Dr. Jubilee in her discourse said that the Covid-19 pandemic has spread globally very quickly. The facts about Covid-19 symptoms, how the virus spreads and what you can do to stop it will help you and your community, she added.

 She further mentioned that there is a lot of misinformation about Covid-19 so it is important to check the source of the information whether it has come from a reliable source such as the World Health Organization (WHO) or your government health authority.

 The meet was attended by the state consultant for adolescent health, NHM Manipur state and community volunteer coordination team (CVCT) for Covid-19 Dr Philazan Shangh Shimray, SOP of Covid-19 staffs and invitees.
