IMPHAL: The Manipur Thinkers Forum has submitted a policy proposal on COVID-19: Way Ahead for Manipur to the state government in order to help fight and prevent the spread of the noval virus in the state.
This policy proposal is aimed at identifying and suggesting a strategic future course of action in respect of mid-term and long-term plans to enable/ help/ assist/ contribute in the Government’s effort towards framing sustainable policy to address the challenges posed by the onset of COVID-19, the forum said.
The forum laid stress on market regulation, mode of transportation, human resource development, education department and micro small and medium enterprises.
In the market regulation, the forum stressed on proper channelization and flow of the market and a price protection policy to help control the price of essential commodities. In the mode of transportation, it suggested not more than 2 passengers in autos and taxis; it also proposed for two passengers in 3-seaters and one passenger in 2-seaters in buses.
As for education sector, the forum proposed for reduced contact classes besides the online classes adding that it can be held 2-3 times a week with two sessions – one in the morning and one in the evening.
The forum also proposed for social distancing in the HRD and MSME.
