Imphal : Coordinating Body Khurai has expressed deep condolences on the sudden demise of Moirangthem Lukhoi Meetei of Khurai Thangjam Leikai on May 8.
According to a statement issued by Coordinating Body Khurai Media Coordinator K.Seityajit, Moirangthem Lukhoi was a degree holder in Fine Arts and emerged as a renowned sculptor and painter in the State. He participated in 17 art exhibitions and workshops organized by Arts Society and Lalit Kala Academy from 1985 till 2015.
The deceased took part in the construction and facial design of Pragiti Maidan in New Delhi for the India International Trade Fair (IITF). He participated in the Republic Day celebration in Manipur and won many awards and prizes for tableau designing. He also took part in tableau construction eight times representing Manipur in the Republic Day celebration at New Delhi from 1965 till 1989. He won third prize for Best Designer of All India in 1988.
Lukhoi was a founder member and Assistant Secretary of Sangeet Kala Sangam, Khurai who took great initiative for the development of arts in the state. He was an approved artist of All India Radio and a Life Member of Arts Society of Manipur.
Coordinating Body Khurai shared the grief of the bereaved family members, saying that the void left by the deceased would forever be hard to fill.
