Lockdown 3.0: Rs 1,01,200 fine collected from curfew and lockdown violators

Imphal: With the Covid-19 lockdown 3.0 imposed in throughout the country, State Police still continued to crack down on curfew and lock down violators, including people not wearing face mask in public and not maintaining social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State.

ADGP (LO) L. Kailun in a press note stated that fine of sum of Rs. 1,01,200 was collected from around 886 curfew and lockdown violators along with 745 vehicles that were detained during a drive conducted on Wednesday.

ADGP (LO) in the press note has warned those who violate the curfew and lockdown will be dealt with strong legal action under National Disaster Management Act, 2005.

The detained violators, vehicles and fines were collected from Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching, Chandel, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Senapati, Tamenglong and Ukhrul District Police Station during the drive carried out on Wednesday, respectively.

Meanwhile, an orders and in the name of the Governor issued by Special Secretary (Home) Government of Manipur H. Gyan Prakash informed that the whole sale market in Imphal will be allowed to open from 8 am to 2 pm on six days to cater to the requirements of the retailers of the districts as per schedule, i.e., on Monday for Imphal West and Kakching, on Tuesday for Thoubal and Imphal East, on Wednesday for Bishnupur, Churachandpur and Pherzawl, on Thursday for Senapati, Kangpokpi and Jiribam, on Friday for Chandel, Tengnoupal and Tamenglong and on Saturday for Ukhrul, Kamjong and Noney, respectively.

The order also informed the Deputy Commissioners to issue required permit for purchase indicating the item and the quantity recommended for purchase after duly assessing the availability in the district as directed earlier.
